Bourdeaux's Gwinnett, Forsyth Funding Requests Included In Surface Transportation Reauthorization

June 7, 2021

WASHINGTON — Today, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure unveiled the list of Member-Designated Transportation Projects included in the Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation (INVEST) in America Act, a five-year, $547 billion surface transportation reauthorization bill. Congresswoman Bourdeaux had five projects included, representing both Gwinnett and Forsyth Counties and totaling nearly $20 million.

Under new guidelines passed by the House of Representatives this year, Members of Congress were eligible to submit projects for inclusion in the surface reauthorization bill. In order to be submitted, projects were required to be located within the Member’s District, be publicly disclosed, and be submitted by an acceptable entity, including state and local governments, among other requirements. Members of Congress were also required to certify that they and their family members had no financial interest in any of the projects they were sponsoring.

“As the representative for Georgia’s 7th District, one of my top priorities is ensuring that Gwinnett and Forsyth residents are maximizing all available government resources,” said Congresswoman Bourdeaux. “For that reason, I was proud to nominate a number of consequential projects to improve mobility and economic development while also building our communities’ wonderful parks and trails. I am glad to see five projects in Georgia’s 7th District were accepted for inclusion into the surface reauthorization bill, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on the committee to get these important priorities across the finish line.”
