LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Today, United States Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07) hosted Small Business Administrator (SBA) Isabel Guzman for a roundtable event with Georgia small businesses. During the event, Congresswoman Bourdeaux and Administrator Guzman heard how small business owners in Forsyth and Gwinnett counties have been helped by SBA programs and resources, including the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL), EIDL Targeted Advance, the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant and the Restaurant Revitalization Fund.
Congresswoman Bourdeaux, a member of the House Committee on Small Business, and Administrator Guzman listened to the experiences and needs of local business owners and took questions on how the SBA and Rep. Bourdeaux can continue to support small business owners. More than 15 local small businesses were represented at the event.
“Small businesses are critical to the nation’s economy as we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and look to the future. Today, we heard directly from small business owners in Gwinnett and Forsyth County to understand how they have been helped by the American Rescue Plan and SBA relief programs, and how we can continue to support their growth,” said Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux. “I thank Administrator Guzman for visiting Georgia’s 7th Congressional District and I look forward to working with her to get entrepreneurs and small business owners the resources they need to grow their business.”
“It’s been a pleasure to travel to Georgia and hear directly from these businesses in terms of the impact that The American Rescue Plan programs have had on their survival. I’m quite impressed by the outreach that the Congresswoman has been able to effectively achieve,” said Administrator Guzman. “Georgia has been in our top five states across multiple relief programs, and that doesn’t happen easily, but it’s achieved with constant support and outreach. From the businesses it’s been impressive to see how much they’ve come together and shared resources and knowledge with each other. It’s just a testament to their resilience.”
