Rep. Bourdeaux Hosts SBA Administrator Guzman & Georgia Restaurateurs For Discussion On New Federal Resources

WASHINGTON —Yesterday, United States Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07) hosted a virtual event with Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Isabel C. Guzman and more than 60 restaurateurs from Georgia’s 7th District, discussing the imminent launch of the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and how Georgia restaurants can maximize the available federal resources. Also participating in the event were Patrick Kelley, SBA Associate Administrator, Capital Access, and Nicola Montagna, Special Assistant, SBA Office of Capital Access

Congress created the $28.6 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund to support restaurants, an industry uniquely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the American Rescue Plan. The program is set to launch in the coming weeks.

“Restaurants are one of the industries most critically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is why the Restaurant Revitalization Fund is so essential,” said Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux. “Not only are restaurants part of the fiber of our communities, many are also small businesses owned by women, minorities, and other underserved communities. I thank Administrator Guzman and all her colleagues for joining me to ensure that the fabulous restaurants in Georgia’s 7th District are ready to hit the ground running when the program opens for applications.”

“Restaurants were among the businesses that were the first to be impacted by the pandemic and will likely be the last to fully reopen, and so this relief is critical for them as they try to sustain their businesses during this time,” said Administrator Guzman. “I grew up in a small business family and have been an entrepreneur myself, so I understand on a personal level how much grit and determination it takes to start, grow, and sustain a small business, especially during a crisis. I thank Congresswoman Bourdeaux for hosting this important event and continuing to work to support our nation’s small businesses.”
