Bourdeaux Statement on Vote to Remove Marjorie Taylor Greene from Congressional Committees

WASHINGTON — Today, United States Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07) released the following statement following her vote in favor of H.Res 72, a resolution to remove Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene from the Committee on the Budget and the Education & Labor Committee.

“As both a candidate and as a Member of Congress, Marjorie Taylor Greene has peddled conspiracy theories about the November Presidential election, voiced support for political violence, and peddled racist and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories,” said Congresswoman Bourdeaux. “This type of rhetoric is dangerous and, as we have seen, has led to very real violence against the US Congress. This is why I voted to remove Congresswoman Greene from her positions on the Committee on the Budget and the Education & Labor Committee. At some point there has to be accountability.”

H. Res 72 passed the House tonight with a bipartisan vote of 230 to 199 and takes effect immediately.
